Are you a Raspberry Pi Zero enthusiast looking to expand your project's potential with MIDI functionality?

Introducing the Slim MIDI Hat - the ultimate solution for seamless MIDI integration in your Raspberry Pi Zero projects.

With its sleek SLIM design, the Slim MIDI Hat eliminates the need for cumbersome USB-MIDI cables, making your setup more efficient and aesthetically pleasing. Simply drill two holes in your existing Raspberry Pi enclosure for the mini-jack connections, and transform your Raspberry Pi Zero into a compact MIDI powerhouse.

To get started, check out our comprehensive tutorial on using the Raspberry Pi MIDI Hat with Python, including steps to reconfigure the Raspberry serial port to 31250 bauds. Visit our blog post now for this valuable guide. Plus, see how perfectly the hat fits on most plexi/plastic cases for the RPI Zero in our gallery of images.

With the latest MIDI Hat (v1.3), enjoy the added convenience of a 16 I/O connector. This feature empowers you to seamlessly integrate buttons, rotary encoders, basic LEDs, or 5v Eurorack Trigger/Gate signals to effortlessly manage your Python MIDI scripts.

Elevate your Raspberry Pi Zero projects today with the Slim MIDI Hat!

Two variants are available:

  1. TRS MIDI hat
  2. TRS MIDI hat + 2 TRS mini-jack to DIN cables (Type-A MIDI)

Not included:

  • Raspberry PI Zero
  • Raspberry case

Features:

  • 2 MIDI mini-jack TYPE-A connectors: IN/OUT
  • MIDI IN/OUT ports are connected to the Raspberry RX/TX serial pins (10 and 8)
  • Additional 16 pins I/O connector for connecting buttons, rotary encoders or basic LEDs (MCP23017 chip)
  • The I/O ports are 5 volts compatible so that you can use it for 5 volts Eurorack modules Gate or Triggers
  • Raspberry PI Zero/Zero 2/W/H compatible shield. The PI Zero WH or 2WH are recommended because they have the 40 pins header already soldered, which is needed to connect this hat.
  • MIDI ports compatible with Zynaptik Zynthian.
  • 5 volts MIDI standard with buffer
  • 4 SPI ports to solder an OLED screen or any other SPI device
  • Version 1.3: has support for rotary encoders

Included: four nylon spacers, height = 9mm

Casing options:

  • tall transparent case like this one, just need to make two holes for the TRS Midi
  • use both sides of two standard PI Zero acrylic sheets as shown in the photo. To hold each corner in place, you need a 10mm screw, an 8mm spacer, and a 1mm washer, a 5mm spacer, and finally a nut. All with a standard diameter of 2.5mm.

We are sorry that we cannot sell these options on our site, because indeed we have no way to offer these boxes at a reasonable price when standard Asian options are available at 1 euro each...

Works great

It works perfectly by following the instructions to install ttymidi-sysex. Compatible with Alsa and Python. I also managed to connect buttons to the IO ports, and I fully intend to test all sorts of encoders!
